💥The “Agility” ladder is a controversial topic in the realm of strength and conditioning. Often we will see videos of professional athletes using the ladder with complicated patterns done with speed and precision, claiming they are working on their agility. While this may look impressive, it is not working on the athletes ability to change direction in response to an external stimulus, (the type of agility that is needed in sports) something that cannot be trained with doing doing pre-planned ladder drills So does the ladder have a place in performance training? The answer is yes but it needs to be used for the right purposes and in the right way ⛹🏽‍♂️First video: this is how the ladder is traditionally used, the athletes are given a pre-planned movement pattern which they try to complete with minimal errors. While these exercises are not working on true agility, they are good to incorporate into warmups in order to activate the nervous system for athletic movements and can help some athletes with slower feet get faster. The problem arises when coaches use the ladder for an entire “agility” workout. The ladder should be used in this way for no more than 5 minutes at the beginning of a session 💥Second video: here we see how the ladder can be used for true agility that the athletes use in game scenarios. The athletes are give a pre-planned movement, but then must react to a verbal cue, change direction and sprint, much like trying to avoid a defender in a game. 💪So remember, you shouldn’t use the agility ladder in the traditional way to work on “agility”, however the ladder still has a place it just needs to be used appropriately

Coach Joe dropping some knowledge 💣💣@acceleration_performance_west ・・・ ‼️I AM NOT A DOCTOR‼️(please always speak with a physician first if you are in pain) 🗣Proceed with caution as this is an advanced movement that places the spine under load in extension💡 Low back discomfort can apparently sometimes be associated with a tight psoas🤬 My boy @matsoukatom an up and coming bodybuilder and great personal trainer was experiencing some low back pain and was advised that a tight psoas could be the cause of his problem🔐 When I heard him mention this in his instagram story I quickly sent him this video🤠 ➡️Here is a great exercise I learned from Louie Simmons of @westsidebarbellofficial that has always given me great relief❗️
